12/20/20251 min read
In The Great Pasture, Ralph Thurston includes an essay on the 1869 trek of the Shoshone tribes from the Boise area to the Fort Hall Reservation over two hundred miles to the west. Though Company H accompanied the Shoshone Bruneau and Boise tribes from western Idaho to Fort Hall for a six week trip, no accounts have yet surfaced regarding events on that movement. These are the men of that troop, so if you have any knowledge of their histories please contact the author. You could add to the history of the Shoshone-Bannock tribes:
Sgt. John Mean
Capt. Michael Foley
Joseph Pitzer
Elva Allen
James Barker
John Bine
Harry Barton
Patrick Kervin
Samuel Kirkpatrick
Edward Mallory
William J. Morgan
William E. Price
Patrick OKeeffe
Joseph H. Jolley

John McCoy
These names were found on microcopy 665, Roll 236, p. 139 and 142. Thanks to the National Archives.
